Screen shots and updates :)

Here's some screen shots from the game in progress:





Also some exciting things have happened lately:
  • Was able to show the people at Microsoft Studio the game. They really liked it and said that they would look into letting us use their computer labs during winter break :3 . Currently we're looking into if we can get some speakers from them for both the artists and the programmers.
  • The Daily Titan will be doing an article on the game, and we have also been contacted by the OC Register--so keep an eye out on that newspaper too... :D
  • Titan Racers is also entered in the Media Arts Festival, and we are in the process of preparing the game for the GDC's Independent Game Festival. Please wish us luck guys!

Well guys here are just two cars out of the five. The art car is actually done in pencil...i think its cool. Woot! The other car is for the exercise tuffy, so i use colors from the save by the bell logo.

Some Texture...

Here's the start of the texture on the TSU. It took me a while but I think I'm getting used to optimizing the texture space (the TSU exterior takes up about half of a 512x512 image ^_^).

Please let me know what you think and if theres anything I should fix :3 .

Tusk Tuffy



The Tuffys with tusks. I think Wes's idea of simply extruding them worked pretty well :) .

Heads Up Display Roughs

OK guys. So I'm finally back in action. Temporarily. Again. Anywho, here are some rough sketches trying to analyze what would look best for on screen play. So far, I broke it down into these sections as a possible idea of information we would want on the screen while playing the game:

- Placement (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.)
- Lap (1/3, 2/3, whatever)
- Health Bar + lives left
- Time (unsure whether should be time left or time on track)
- Pictures of other players and their placement so you can see who's ahead or behind you (I saw it in some other games and thought it looked cool and added to the fun).
- ? Weapon? Wasn't sure about this one, but should we show the players secret weapon on screen also?

I uploaded some sketches so you guys could get an idea. Tell me which layout you like best and what possible fixes I can make. They are really rough and a bit hard to see, but I think they give the overall idea. I play very few games, so any helpful ideas would be awesome!

Tuffy Designs Set 3

Last set :3 ! Here's natural science/math and humanities/social sciences. Like I've stated before, basically what I've tried to do is take the concept and translate them into a matching style. Please let me know what you think.

Also sorry about the poor quality of the last two sets, I'm not sure whats up with my scanner ^_^; .


Tuffy Designs Set 2


And here's Tuffy set number 2 :) . These are the depts of computer science/engineering, communication, and education respectively. I'm not sure why this scan didn't go through as well, if you have trouble seeing it let me know and i'll rescan it.

Tuffy Designs Set 1



Here's some rough character designs for the Tuffys. These ones are health/fitness dept, business/economic dept, and the art dept. Basically what I tried to do was take the original designs and mod them to fit the overall style of the game. Please let me know what you think, more will be coming soon ^_^ .

Oh and I know I didn't have to draw the legs, I just did them because the Tuffys looked weird floating there without them ^ ^; .

Ok so this was a idea i had if we didn't feel like making unique cars for each racer we could just use one model and paint them all differently. Also look at this like a sketch because i just started modeling with no plan :p
